Composition: Iron aluminum magnesium silicate hydroxide
Nomenclature: Named after the Greek word "chloros" which means "pale green," a reference to its color.
Industrial Uses: Crushed stone.
Additional Notes: Chlorite is a large group of chemically- and structurally-related minerals. Specific, individual minerals within the Chlorite group tend to be difficult to distinguish without detailed and careful analysis. As a result, specimens of chlorite minerals are oftentimes referred to as "chlorite" instead of its specific species name.
